WP7

I work with Windows Phone 7 now. And think that the approach is a bit raw now because they force us, developers and designers, to follow their paradigms. Hey, your message box doesn't fit our design!

Anyway we do our best to ship a really good product.

Do’s and Don’ts of Usability Testing

I recommend to read article "Do’s and Don’ts of Usability Testing" (By Demetrius Madrigal and Bryan McClain) before you start usability testing.

Briefly:
+ Get involved and observe usability test sessions.
- Jump to conclusions based on a couple of test sessions.
+ Provide direction to your user research team.
- Dictate to your user research team.
+ Require a screener that includes user behavior.
- Handcuff your recruiter with unnecessary requirements.
+ Get video clips of the test sessions.
- Expect to watch a complete video of a usability study.
+ Perform iterative usability testing.
- Leave target user groups out of your studies.
+ Minimize your impact on test sessions.
avoid: Hiding yourself from participants.
+ Get to know your user research team.
avoid: Using functional prototypes that are overly buggy or unstable.
+ Incorporate experience testing.

When you had even at ones "why?" in your head, read the article.

UI sketch templates

I've found a Collection of Printable Sketch Templates for Wireframing.
You are free to choose any you like. UI sketching is a kind of science-art and all we should enjoy it using very nice tools that inspire us.

UX joke

She: Answer me honestly,  Yes or No, OK?
He: Ask
She: Why do men laugh on blondes?
He: Yes.

Original:

Она: ответь мне, только честно, да или нет, хорошо?
Он: спрашивай
Она: почему мужчины смеются над блондинками?
Он: да

UI Stencils

Today I've found a nice stencil for web- UI designers who prefer to draw by hand:
This is a product of UI Stencils and everyone can buy it. Very nice.
Also Stencils for iPhone and IPad are available. I like them also.

I prefer to use Axure and MS Visio for prototyping because I have a lot of groundwork there and it's very easy to make changes there.
I use hand drawing only when I have an idea and don't have access to computer. My devoted journal helps me then.

Abbreviation of "number"

Which is the correct abbreviation of "number"? N., N°., Nr. or No.?

No.
No, no. and no are in use also.

Symbol # is used for this purpose, too.

I use no. and #.
